Beheadings and Brutality: Not from Islam — A Clear Refutation of Khawarij Barbarity
Imām Az-Zuhrī رحمه الله (d. 124 AH) said:
“Never was a severed head of an enemy brought to the Messenger of Allāh ever (may the peace & salutations of Allāh be upon him), not even on the day of the battle of Badr. When a severed head was brought to the first Caliph Abū Bakr (may Allāh be pleased with him), he forbade it."
"Once a severed head was brought to Abū Bakr, so he ascended the pulpit and said: 'We are not in need of this [conduct], this is from the ways of non-Muslims and non-Arabs.'”
Sources: Sunan al-Kubrā (al-Bayhaqī 9/223), Tārīkh Dimashq (40/482)
This narration exposes the savage conduct of the modern-day Khawārij, who glorify beheadings, bloodshed, and carnage under the false guise of jihād.
The Prophet ﷺ and his Khulafā’ never approved of such acts.
Not even in the heat of battle.
Not even against the enemies of Islam.
What these extremists do today — parading severed heads and promoting gore — is not from the Sunnah, but from the customs of non-Muslims and non-Arabs, as Abū Bakr رضي الله عنه clarified.
This is not honor. It is deviance.
O Muslim!
Don’t be fooled by those who claim bravery while abandoning the mercy, dignity, and prophetic conduct of Islam.
Hold firm to the path of the Salaf.
Reject the barbarity of the Khawārij.
