Delegating Umrah for the Sick and Elderly: Islamic Ruling Explained
Question to Shaykh Ibn Baaz:
Does ʿUmrah allow delegation if a person is unable due to illness?
Shaykh Ibn Baz Answer:
ʿUmrah is like Ḥajj — if the person responsible is incapable due to an illness from which recovery is not expected, or due to old age, then he may appoint someone to perform ʿUmrah on his behalf, just like in the case of Ḥajj.
