Even Half a Date Could Bring You Closer to Jannah

The Prophet ﷺ said to our mother ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها:

“O ʿĀ’ishah, do not turn away the poor—even with half a date. O ʿĀ’ishah, love the poor and bring them close, for indeed Allah will bring you close on the Day of Judgment.”

Sahih al-Tirmidhī, 2352

SubḥānAllāh… just half a date. Not a loaf of bread. Not a bag of gold. Just a simple act of compassion from a sincere heart.

In this world obsessed with luxury and image, Islam teaches us the power of giving, humility, and closeness to the weak. The people society ignores — Allāh honours. The people many avoid — Allāh brings near Him.

If you want Allāh’s nearness on Yawm al-Qiyāmah:

— Don’t overlook the needy.

— Share whatever little you have.

— Keep the poor close in your life, not just your pocket.

The path to Paradise is often paved with what seems small: a smile, a date, a kind word, a warm meal.

Love the poor. Serve the poor. Defend the poor.

Because the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ did — and he promised that doing so brings you closer to Allāh.
