False Rebels or Enemies in Disguise? Shaykh Al-Albani’s Stern Warning Against Stirring Fitnah in Muslim Lands
Imām al-Albānī said:
"Even if rebellion against Muslim rulers were permissible, it still would not be allowed [in our current situation]. Today — and with deep regret — we are suffering from the aggression of the polytheist disbelievers against the lands of Islam. So if these rebels really wanted to rise up, let them rise against the disbelieving polytheists. But instead, they seek to spread tribulations among the Muslims.
That is why, in truth, I have serious doubt about two things:
– The Islam of these people in reality. I fear that they may be enemies of Islam who have disguised themselves in the garments of Muslims.
– And if the other possibility is true — that they are in fact Muslims — then they are ignorant to the utmost degree of ignorance…
I find it unlikely that these individuals are truly Muslims. Rather, they are merely those who appear to wear the cloak of Islam, while their intent is to tarnish the brilliance, the purity, and the clarity of Islam by attributing to it actions of which Islam and true Muslims are absolutely innocent — as innocent as the wolf was from the blood of the son of Yaʿqūb."
