Ibn Taymiyyah’s Insight: Your Heart Knows Who to Love — and Who to Reject

Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:

“Hearts are hardwired to love those who do good to them, and to hate those who do harm to them.”
— [Jāmiʿ al-Masā’il 6/105]

And what a truth that is.

You don’t have to be taught it.

You don’t need to memorize it.

It’s fitrah. Built-in. Planted deep inside your soul.

So ask yourself…

Who deserves your love more than the One who created you, sustained you, guided you, and forgave you again and again?

Allah — who gives you life, food, shelter, peace, breath, guidance, purpose.

And who deserves your hatred more than the one who calls you away from Him?

The one who invites to disbelief…

who mocks the Qur’an…

who belittles the Prophets…

who glamorizes sin and poisons hearts — Shayṭān and his followers.

This is why:

The soul inclines to truth when it hears the Qur'an.

And recoils when it hears mockery, lies, and rebellion against Allah.

So don’t suppress what your heart knows.

Don’t drown it in ideologies.

Don’t numb it with sin.

Let your heart love Allah, His Prophet (peace be upon him), and the people of goodness.

Let your heart hate disbelief, corruption, and those who oppose the truth — as Allah commanded.

“Indeed, those who believe are stronger in their love for Allah.”
— [Surah al-Baqarah 2:165]
