If They Truly Loved the Prophet ﷺ, They Would Follow His Sunnah

If They Truly Loved the Prophet ﷺ, They Would Follow His Sunnah

Everyone claims love for the Prophet ﷺ.

But love is not in slogans.

Love is not in poetry.

Love is not in marching or chanting or decorated Mawlids.

Love is in obedience.

Love is in imitation.

Love is in sacrifice — even when it goes against your desires.

Allah ﷻ said clearly:

“Say: If you love Allah, then follow me (Muḥammad ﷺ), and Allah will love you.”

(Sūrah Āl-ʿImrān, 3:31)

So if you don’t follow his Sunnah —

you don’t truly love him.

you’re just using his name while living your own way.

The Sūfī dances, but abandons the Sunnah.

The Shīʿī weeps, but curses his family.

The Ḥizbī quotes ḥadīth, but abandons the Salaf.

The modernist claims “mercy,” but changes his religion.

This is not love. This is betrayal dressed in reverence.

This verse (3:31) is a test for all who claim love of Allah. If they follow the Prophet ﷺ, they are truthful. If not, they are liars.

Ahl al-Bidʿah celebrate birthdays — but reject his Sunnah in clothing, ʿaqīdah, and manhaj.

They raise slogans of "muḥabbah" — but when you tell them to follow the Salaf, they mock you.

Real love is in:

Reviving the Sunnah

Living like he ﷺ lived

Worshipping like he ﷺ worshipped

Believing like the Sahābah believed

Staying far from every innovation — no matter how beautiful it looks

Imām Mālik (rahimahullāh) said:

"Whoever introduces an innovation (bid'ah) in Islam, thinking it is something good, has claimed that Muhammad ﷺ has betrayed the message. Because Allah says: 'This day I have perfected for you your religion...' (Qur'an 5:3), so what was not part of the religion on that day, will never be part of the religion today."

(al-Iʿtiṣām, al-Shāṭibī Volume 1, page 49)

So ask yourself — do you really love the Prophet ﷺ?

Then show it by following his Sunnah — upon the understanding of his Companions.
