Islam Teaches Hygiene Like No Other Religion

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“A time limit was set for us regarding: trimming the mustache, clipping the nails, plucking the armpit hair, and shaving the pubic hair — not to leave any of them for more than forty nights.”

[Sahih Muslim]

This isn’t just a personal habit — it’s a command rooted in divine wisdom.

SubḥānAllāh! Over 1400 years ago, Islam laid down precise personal grooming rules — long before modern hygiene standards were ever discovered.

Why? Because:

  • Cleanliness is half of faith

  • It protects from infections and foul smells

  • It maintains human dignity

  • It nurtures physical and spiritual purity

Yet today, in the age of hot showers and endless hygiene products — how many of us delay or even neglect these prophetic routines?

Neglecting this Sunnah not only harms the body — it dishonors a command of the Prophet ﷺ.

Mark your calendar. Don’t let forty nights pass without checking your fitrah.

These small acts may seem minor — but they are loved by Allāh.

May Allāh make us people who honor both the outward and inward purity.

— Trimming the mustache,
— Clipping the nails,
— Plucking the armpit hair,
— Shaving the pubic hair —
not to leave any of them for more than forty nights."
