Missed the Udhiyah Deadline: What If You Slaughter After the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah?
Question to Shaykh Ibn Baaz:
A woman who is financially able got preoccupied and did not intend to offer the Udhiyah (sacrificial animal) until the 15th day of Dhul-Hijjah, and then she slaughtered it. Does it count as an Udhiyah or not?
Shaykh Ibn Baaz Answer:
The mentioned slaughter does not count as an Udhiyah, because the time for offering the Udhiyah ends with sunset on the 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah. However, it is considered a charitable act — she may eat from it, give some of it to the poor, and gift some to her neighbors and relatives as she wishes. And Allah is the Granter of success.
