Mount Arafah: A Sacred Day — Not a Sacred Rock
Every year, countless ḥujjāj climb Jabal ar-Raḥmah, believing it's part of the ḥajj.
But here’s the truth — from the scholars of the Sunnah:
Ibn Taymiyyah said:
“It is not legislated to climb the mountain at ‘Arafah — by consensus (ijmāʿ).”
Majmūʿ al-Fatāwā 26/128
The Prophet Muḥammad (peace be upon him) stood at the base of the mountain, not on top of it.
There’s no Sunnah to:
— Climb the mountain
— Face it in du‘ā
— Touch it for barakah
— Collect its dust or stones
These are innovations (bidʿah) — even if done with “good intentions.”
Because in Islam, sincerity isn’t enough. Actions must be:
— Sincere for Allah
— Based on authentic Sunnah
The standing at ‘Arafah is in the plain, not on the peak.
Let’s honor the legacy of the Prophet (peace be upon him) — not with additions, but with precise obedience.
