Music Blackens the Heart — Quran Enlightens It

— A Powerful Reminder from Shaykh Ibn Bāz رحمه الله

Shaykh Ibn Bāz (رحمه الله) said:

“Whoever enjoys music and listens to it frequently will find difficulty listening to the Qur’ān and enjoying it.”

This is the reality many of us ignore…

You can’t pour darkness into the heart every day and expect light to remain.

Music is not just “entertainment” — it’s a spiritual toxin.

It clings to the soul, distracts from dhikr, and dulls the love of Qur’an.

Notice how music becomes addictive…

Yet Qur’an requires effort, discipline, and patience?

That’s not by coincidence. That’s the effect of a blackened heart vs. a purified one.

The more you fill your ears with music,

The more you silence the sweetness of the Qur’an.

You must choose:

Do you want lyrics that feed the ego…

or verses that feed the soul?

The Companions would cry from just one verse.

But today — we can’t even finish one page.

Ask yourself why.

O Allah, remove from our hearts every love that distracts us from Your Book. Replace it with love for Your Words, Your Remembrance, and Your Light.

Let’s detox our hearts. Let’s turn off the music… and turn up the Qur’an.
