Tablighi Jamaat and Their Silence on Shirk at Graves

Tablighi Jamaat and Their Silence on Shirk at Graves

They travel city to city…

They knock on doors inviting people to “prayer”…

They deliver passionate speeches about “ikhlaas,” “aadaab,” and “jama‘ah”…

But here’s the disturbing reality:

They remain silent on the greatest danger to a Muslim’s soul — shirk at the graves.

Across the Muslim world:

— People make du‘ā to the dead.

— They seek help from “saints.”

— They do ṭawāf around tombs.

— They offer sacrifices at graves.

— They believe their pīr hears and responds.

And what does Tablīghī Jamā‘ah say?

Nothing.

No refutation.

No correction.

No teaching of pure tawḥīd as understood by the Salaf.

Why?

Because many of their own elders engaged in grave-related innovations — and instead of correcting it, they built a manhaj of “don’t speak on controversial issues” in the name of “unity.”

But there is no unity upon falsehood.

The Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ fought shirk with clarity. He broke the idols. He forbade building over graves. He warned against exaggerating the righteous.

“Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians exaggerated in praising (ʿĪsā) the son of Maryam…”
— Bukhārī

“O Allāh, do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped.”
— Aḥmad, with authentic chain

Salafiyyah doesn’t stay silent on shirk.

It warns against it, clarifies the truth, and calls to pure worship of Allāh alone — in every land, every masjid, and every home.

It’s time to stop following a jamāʿah that avoids confronting falsehood.

Islam is tawḥīd. Da‘wah starts with tawḥīd. Anything else is a distraction.
