The Consequences of Your Intercession: A Share of Reward or a Share of Sin
The meaning of:
{Whoever intercedes with a good intercession will have a share of it...}
— is: Whoever takes part in a matter that leads to goodness, they will have a share in that goodness.
{And whoever intercedes with an evil intercession will have a portion of its burden} — meaning: they will bear a sin resulting from that matter which came about due to their effort and their intention.
As has been authentically reported from the Prophet ﷺ, he said:
"Intercede and you shall be rewarded, and Allah will decree what He wills upon the tongue of His Prophet."
(Narrated in the Ṣaḥīḥ)
And Mujāhid ibn Jabr said: This verse was revealed concerning the intercessions of people for one another.
