The Prophet ﷺ Warned Us of Misguided Scholars — Do You Know Them?
Not every scholar is a guide to Paradise.
Some scholars are doors to the Hellfire — and the Prophet ﷺ warned us about them!
Scholars who twist the dīn for politics.
Scholars who sell fatwas for fame and money.
Scholars who defend innovators and sects.
Scholars who betray the Qur’an and Sunnah to please the people.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"There is something I fear for my Ummah more than the Dajjāl."
And he ﷺ said:
"Misguided and astray scholars."
Source: Musnad Ahmad (no. 21334 and 21335)
And he ﷺ described scholars who will:
Call to falsehood.
Make halal what Allah made haram.
Lead the people to innovations and destruction.
Ibn al-Qayyim said:
"The evil scholars sit at the gate of Paradise, calling the people to it with their words, but calling them to the Fire with their actions. Whenever their words say to the people, ‘Come!’ their actions say, ‘Do not listen to them!’ If what they called to was true, they themselves would have been the first to respond to it. They are guides in appearance, but in reality, they are bandits who cut off the path."
(Al-Fawāʾid (Dār al-Rayyān Lit-Turāth, Cairo, 1984), p. 84.)
Today, they wear turbans and robes.
They give emotional speeches.
They quote Qur’an and ḥadīth — but twist them to support falsehood.
How do you recognize them?
They oppose the understanding of the Sahābah.
They defend deviated sects.
They attack Salafiyyah — the true path of Qur’an, Sunnah, and Salaf.
They mock scholars who clarify Tawḥīd, Sunnah, and Manhaj.
True scholars:
Call to Tawḥīd, not political movements.
Stick to the Salaf, not modern ideologies.
Clarify truth — even if the whole world hates them.
Be smart, O Muslim!
Learn your dīn from scholars upon the manhaj of the Salaf.
Protect yourself from the scholars of desires.
