The Right of the Husband in Islam — A Forgotten Duty in Many Homes Today
Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) said:
“Nothing is upon a woman after the right of Allah and His Prophet that is more compulsory than the right of the husband.”
[Majmūʿ al-Fatāwā 32/275]
In an age where influences outside the home try to redefine womanhood, rights, and marriage — we must return to the truth revealed by our Lord.
The right of the husband is not a cultural norm. It’s not optional. It’s not “old-fashioned.”
It is a divine command — right after the rights of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him).
Just as a husband is answerable for providing, leading, and protecting with justice…
A wife is answerable before Allah for honoring, obeying, and respecting her husband — as long as he does not command sin.
This is not oppression.
It’s balance.
It’s the divine structure of the family that brings harmony, mercy, and barakah.
Sisters, know that your respect, your patience, and your service — when done with sincerity for the sake of Allah — are acts of ʿibādah (worship).
Every moment of fulfilling your husband’s rights is written in your scale of good deeds.
Let’s revive the beauty of Islamic marriages — not based on ego, but based on revelation.
