When Liberalism Becomes a God: “Follow Your Desires”
There was a time when people bowed to idols of stone.
Today, they bow to desire — and call it “freedom.”
Liberalism preaches:
“Do what makes you happy.”
“Follow your heart.”
“No one can judge you.”
But Allah asks:
“Have you seen the one who takes his own desires as his god?”
[Surah al-Jāthiyah, 45:23]
This is not freedom.
This is enslavement — to lust, ego, and fleeting feelings.
Modern society says:
— You don’t need God.
— Your feelings are truth.
— Your desires define who you are.
And what has it led to?
Broken families
Gender confusion
Moral chaos
Rising suicide and depression rates
According to the CDC, suicide is now one of the leading causes of death
This is not progress.
This is a spiritual collapse.
Liberalism turned self-worship into a value.
But Islam teaches:
Your nafs (desires) are not your lord. Allah is.
The Prophet Muḥammad (peace be upon him) said:
“The wise one is he who suppresses his desires and works for what comes after death.”
(Reported by Tirmidhī, 2459 – ḥasan)
When you make desire your god, you lose direction.
When you obey Allah, you find true liberation.
Because real freedom is not doing what you want.
It’s doing what is right — even when it's hard.
And only Islam gives you the compass to find it.
