Why Innovations in Aqeedah Are More Dangerous Than Sins

Why Innovations in Aqeedah Are More Dangerous Than Sins

Most people fear sins like drinking, stealing, and lying.

And yes — sins are deadly.

But there is something even deadlier, something that destroys the foundation of your religion:

Innovations (Bidʿah) — especially in ʿAqeedah (Belief).

Sins make you guilty — but you know you're wrong.

Innovations deceive you — making you think you’re right while you are drowning.

Sufyān al-Thawri رحمه الله said:

"Innovation (Bid'ah) is more beloved to Iblis (Satan) than sin, because a sin can be repented from, whereas innovation is not repented from."
Reported by Al-Laalkaa'i, 1/132.

The sinner knows he's disobedient — his heart feels shame.

The innovator thinks he's worshipping Allah — but he’s actually opposing Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

The people of Bidʿah are more hated to the Salaf than the people of major sins.

Why?

Because innovation changes the Dīn.

Because innovation corrupts the religion itself.

Because innovation leads entire generations astray.

A man drinking alcohol harms himself.

But a man spreading corrupted ʿAqeedah harms nations.

Innovators redefine Tawḥīd.

They deny Allah’s Names and Attributes.

They twist the meanings of Qur’an and Sunnah.

They attack the Companions and the true scholars.

All while claiming to "defend Islam."

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"And the worst of matters are newly invented ones (in religion), and every innovation (bid‘ah) is misguidance."
(Saḥīḥ Muslim, 867)

No exceptions. No good innovation. No excuses.

No political Bidʿah.

No Sufi Bidʿah.

No philosophical Bidʿah.

No emotional Bidʿah.

Islam is complete. Islam is perfect. Islam doesn’t need man-made additions.

Stay firm upon:

Qur’an

Sunnah

Understanding of the Sahābah and Salaf al-Ṣāliḥīn

Cling to the original Islam — pure, untouched, uncorrupted.
