Truth Over Names — Evidence Over Emotions

Imām Ibn Bāz رحمه الله said:

“When the scholars differ, their opinions should be examined, and of those that agree with the evidence should be supported — without showing bigotry towards any particular individual.”
Majmūʿ Fatāwā Ibn Bāz (2/312)

SubḥānAllāh! How many today are blinded not by ignorance — but by partisanship.

  • "This is my scholar."

  • "This is our group."

  • "I will never leave what I was taught."

  • "Don’t question his opinion!"

But Islām teaches us:

  • Follow the Qur’ān

  • Follow the Sunnah

  • Follow the evidence

— even if it goes against your favorite shaykh.

The Salaf were never fanboys of personalities. They were lovers of ḥaqq.

True followers of the Sunnah weigh statements against revelation — not against personal loyalty.

Blind following and emotional allegiance have led to splits, sects, and cult-like behavior — even among those who claim to follow the truth.

So ask yourself honestly:

  • If your scholar was mistaken, would you follow the evidence — or would you stay loyal to his name?

  • When disagreements happen, do you look for the daleel — or for the side that suits your comfort?

Ibn Bāz رحمه الله told to Support the one with evidence. Not the one with the loudest followers.

May Allāh grant us hearts that seek truth over pride, sincerity over names, and the Sunnah over sects.
