Why Most Scientists in History Believed in God
And why real science leads you to your Creator, not away from Him.
Today they tell you:
"Science has replaced God."
"Smart people don’t believe in religion."
"The more you know, the less you believe."
But history tells a very different story.
The greatest pioneers of science — the men whose discoveries built the modern world — didn’t see their knowledge as a reason to deny God.
They saw it as a reason to bow to Him.
Isaac Newton — Father of modern physics
“This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being.”
Johannes Kepler — Founder of celestial mechanics
“I am merely thinking God’s thoughts after Him.”
Robert Boyle — Father of modern chemistry
A devoted believer, he funded the spread of Christianity (a religion) and wrote extensively about God's hand in nature.
Louis Pasteur — Founder of microbiology and immunology
“The more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator.”
Michael Faraday — Pioneer of electromagnetism
A deeply religious man who believed scientific discovery was a way of uncovering God's design.
Even Albert Einstein, though not traditionally religious, said:
“Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the universe — a spirit vastly superior to that of man.”
Think about it:
— They discovered the laws of physics… and saw the Lawgiver behind them.
— They uncovered the mysteries of biology… and praised the Divine Designer.
— They mapped the stars… and bowed in awe of the One who hung them in the heavens.
They didn’t see science and faith as enemies.
They saw science as a window into the greatness of Allah.
Because every atom, every cell, every star, every law…
Points back to the One who made it:
“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for people of understanding.”
— [Qur’an 3:190]
Islam doesn’t fear science. Islam calls you to think, reflect, and discover — so you can recognize your Creator even more deeply.
Science explains the “how.”
Islam explains the “why.”
And together, they lead the sincere soul to the truth:
La ilaha illa Allah.
There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allah.
