Refuting the “Unity at All Costs” Principle — A False Ikhwaani Foundation
True unity is built upon the truth, not at the expense of it.
One of the core ideas pushed by Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen is the misleading slogan: “We must unite despite our differences — unity at all costs!”
But the question is: Unite upon what? And with whom?
Let’s be clear:
The Prophet ﷺ never united with the people of innovation and falsehood. He ﷺ warned against them. The Sahaabah did not join hands with the Khawaarij for “the greater good.” They fought them. The Imāms of the Salaf — like al-Awzāʿī, Aḥmad, al-Barbahārī — called innovation more dangerous than sin. They expelled its people, not embraced them in “broad coalitions.”
Unity is only praiseworthy when it is upon:
Tawḥīd (pure monotheism),
Sunnah (the authentic way of the Prophet ﷺ),
Manhaj as-Salaf (the methodology of the earliest generations).
But Ikhwaanīs invite to unity with the grave worshippers, the secularists, the democrats, the people of desires. They say:
“Don’t divide the Ummah by pointing out these errors. Let’s work together.”
This is not the unity Allah and His Messenger ﷺ commanded — this is compromise disguised as da’wah.
Allah said:
“And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah, and be not divided…”
[Āl-‘Imrān 3:103]
The Rope of Allah is the Qur’an and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf.
Not party politics. Not emotional alliances. Not silence upon falsehood.
So we say:
We will not unite with people who curse the Ṣaḥābah.
We will not unite with callers to democracy.
We will not unite with modernists, feminists, and grave worshippers.
We will not unite with Ikhwaan al-Mufliseen — no matter how big their numbers or how loud their slogans.
We will unite with those who hold firmly to the truth, even if they are few. Because this is the true Jamaaʿah.
