The Heart That Submits to Qadr Is the Heart That Finds Peace

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn رحمه الله said:

“If a person was truly pleased with the decree of Allāh, he would be saved from feeling sorrow and anxiety.”

Sharḥ al-Arbaʿīn an-Nawawiyyah, 90

Read that again... slowly.

Your storm may not stop.

But your heart will stop shaking — when you surrender to the One who sent the storm.

Sorrow, pain, loss, and delay — these are part of this world. But what breaks us isn’t what happens to us — it’s the way we respond to it.

Ar-Riḍā bil-Qadr (being pleased with Allāh’s decree) doesn’t mean you never feel hurt.

It means you know the One who decreed it is more Merciful to you than your own mother — and that what He chose, even if it broke your plans, will never break your soul... if you trust Him.

If Allāh took something from you — it wasn’t to harm you.

If Allāh delayed something — it wasn’t to deprive you.

If Allāh closed a door — it’s because Jannah’s gate is better.

The more your heart surrenders to His Will, the more your heart will be free of anxiety and despair. Because anxiety comes when you try to control everything. Peace comes when you realize you control nothing — and Allāh controls everything.

May Allāh grant us a heart that is pleased with His decree in all matters — in hardship and in ease.

Āmīn.
